I have a root canal infection which is very painful. I'm just telling you for the sympathy really, though there is a side effect. From yesterday I won't be drinking any alcohol for ten days. The dentist warned me, the pharmacist warned me, the label on the antibiotics warns me, the leaflet in the box warns me. No alcohol. OK - got it.
Yesterday I went to the pub as usual for the full afternoon session and drank an infeasible amount of water and lime. Why do drunks talk so loudly and what's so bloody funny anyway?

My sympathies. Been there done that-although I only lasted a week before cracking. You can drink on them but all beer tastes terrible. Not worth the effort, really. Mind you, as a Lees drinker...:)
Pecker up Tandyman, hope you're back in full swing soon. I had a pint of Lees Scorcher in Blackheath last night. Was alright, sessionable if a little insipid.
Not had this year's version yet. The brewer told me on Friday that it will be Coronation St and Moonraker at GBBF.
And don't worry. Not writing about beer I'm drinking might well give me time to write about something else. Maybe I'll wait until I'm tetchy though.
Think of your little break as being good for the soul. Also that first pint in 10 days will be just so sweet.
I was kind of hoping for bitter, but I know what you mean. Either way it'll be in Glasgow.
Did anybody warn Lees to scale back their production of insipid beer by 50% for the next 10 days?
Actually, I had a really painful cyst on a wisdom tooth some years ago. It was that bad that I got septicaemia and while on antibiotics in hospital even the sight of nurses uniforms couldn't keep my pecker up. I hope it doesn't get that bad.
No nurses here to check that one out unfortunately. And I think my carpal tunnel syndrome is making a guest appearance, just to really make my day.
If you've got a root canal infection it will be anaerobic bacteria which means the antibiotic will be metronidazole. This is the antibiotic you really shouldn't mix with alcohol so I can only add to the chorus that you really will have to lay off the booze.
That's exactly what it is and I've no intention of drinking with it.
My sympathies TM. It sounds dire. Fancy meeting for a few pints in Liverpool some time in the next few weeks, once you're bitter of course?
Pint in Scousely sounds good. I'll be in touch about that.
