Fantasy Licensees

According to the good people at IFBB (Independent Family Brewers of Britain) the person people would like to see most as a "fantasy landlord" is comedian Peter Kay. Bolton based Kay topped the YouGov poll in all UK regions scoring a creditable 34% of the 1943 sample. Stephen Fry was the somewhat unlikely second choice, with DJ Chris Moyles nabbing the bronze. Model Katie Price was also short-listed but only scored 4% of the votes. (No I haven't heard of her!)

Scott Waddington from the Independent Family Brewers of Britain said: “It seems that the nation likes a landlord who can make them laugh! And they’ve chosen wisely. A good landlord should have a great sense of humour, be sociable and fun and know how to make their pub the hub of the community."

It is a good bit of fun. So who'd be your fantasy landlord or landlady?

  1. Shame on you, Tandleman. You may not have heard of Katie Price, but I'll bet you have seen a lot of her alter ego-Jordan! Not sure she'd even make it as a barmaid, never mind landlord. Still, I suppose there's always the entertainment factor.

  2. Jordan. Of course. She wouldn't really fit behind most bars though would she? And model? That threw me off.

  3. Out of the three, Stephen Fry. Given a wider choice, Valerie Singleton, Jon Richardson or Mark Radcliffe.

  4. I'd certainly visit a pub where Jordon was a barmaid

  5. Jordan as a barmaid? Well I suppose there would be always somewhere to rest your pint.

  6. Christ on bike, imagine going into a pub and seeing Chris Moyles behind the bar. If ever a face was made for radio...

  7. Stephen Fry of the three, definitely.

Mark Radcliffe is a good nomination.

To widen the appeal of this debate though, I will vote for Steve Carell
