It's a very good scheme, IMO. As I understand it, Everards are using it to expand beyond their normal trading area. They buy a closed pub, and lease it to someone with local knowledge-currently just Titanic, but they are looking for other partners. The pub is tied for keg, wines and spirits but allowed to sell their choice of cask. A great way for the micros to showcase their range and potentially win-win for everyone.
This looks like one of those rare occasions when that over-used word "innovative" really does apply. If only other regionals could be less narrow in their outlook.
You do feel that the current financial unpleasantness will throw up some interesting approaches to pubs.
I was amazed that Everards could win 3 awards then i checked and realised none were for brewing .Makes sense now.
I think that the Royal Blenheim is run on this scheme, in conjunction with the White Horse Brewery. I think it is an excellent idea.
