I do an annual beer fast in January, after the first few days I soon find that it doesn't bother me. Throughout the year I'll give up for a week or two. As much as I like my beer, I like my liver more.
I've been known to go as long as 24 hours without a beer. When I'm really good, in the winter, when the bar is shut, I can even push it as far as two days.
As the person who is in charge of beer quality, I have to sample on a regular basis. There are some perks of this job.
Luckily my doctor is quite understanding and doesn't make too big a deal of it, even when I am honest with him. Perhaps I should ask him to put me on the liver transplant list now, just in case.
It never hurts to go without once in a while but will you really go beyond Tuesday?
