This weekend and next sees buildings that are not normally open or fully open to the public being available for visiting. My chums at the THT are a cultural lot who also like a bevvy. A good mix. So today we are touring the 800 year old Rochdale Parish Church and then the Pioneers Museum, which commemorates the birth of the Co-operative movement in Rochdale in 1844.
Now the Co-op Museum just happens to be next door to the splendid Baum, my CAMRA Branch's Pub of The Year, so we'll be in to check quality.
It's a gorgeous day here and there is a beer garden. Sounds like a good day out to me.
Next week we are all off to London for a few days. Pub suggestions welcome. They've already sorted out culture.

ReplyDeleteI like the cut of your jib. The Pioneers Museum was actually pretty good, as was the Parish Church. The Phoenix Arizona was even better.
ReplyDeleteStay clear of shit pubs in the City. Visit good places, as you would at home, and judge's London beer on the basis of what you drink in those, just as you'd do up in Manchester. Don't being a thermometer, a rucksack, a fleece or wear hiking boots.

ReplyDeleteWell I won't be bringing a rucksack, but decent walking shoes of a foot supporting nature may be worn. No boots and I doubt if I'll bring the thermometer either.
Glybourne Opera-is that the name of the new Lees seasonal?! Of course, Tandleman is cultured and sophisticated... I know for a fact that if he farts when the vicar is visiting, he always opens the window:)
