Here Comes the Judge!

Tomorrow I'm off for a little light judging in the Society of Independent Brewers (North) Beer Competition 2009 to be held at Hawkshead Brewery in the Lake District.

The categories to be judged at this half of the event (it is now too big to do it all in one venue) are:

Bitters and Pale Ales (Up to 4.0% ABV)

Strong Ales (Over 5.6% ABV)

Bottled Beers (in 4 categories)

It promises to be an interesting day out and one which I looking forward to.  I'll report back.

  1. Does this involve wearing a wig and having a hammer?

  3. I see that the remaining categories will be judged at the Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport in January. Are you involved in that as well?

  4. Judging the IBC beer awards was one of the worst experiences of my life (I've lived a charmed one, admittedly), so I can't help but pity even you, Peter.
