Wow!
I've been away for a few days beer hunting in Yorkshire. More of that later. When I was away I received an email from my boss at the BSF (Foreign Beer) part of the Great British Beer Festival. It tells me that there are 540 beers this year, although a few of these will be duplicated between bottle and draught. Five hundred and forty!!
Belive me there are some absolute crackers there and so many rarities that I expect there will be a such sea of bloggers, geeks, tickers et al, that we'll need to have resuscitation equipment close at hand to cope with the excitement. This is a seriously good beer list and is a festival in its own right.
Details are here. See you there.
This year all the BSF Bars are separate, which will make it easier for the customers, but more difficult for the staff. Especially for tastings.
We're stoked to have some New Zealand beers there! Wish I was going to be there...

Edelstoff (5.6% ABV)
ReplyDeleteLots of fresh hop flavours and a touch of maltiness. One of the best examples of this difficult to brew style.
Yeah, it's so difficult to add a bag of sugar to water. "Lots of fresh hop flavours"? Where then?
Such erroneosities as this makes me wonder if I should renew my membership after all! (Not to mention that the website's locked up on me both times I've tried to renew online.)
Edelstoff? That's just your obsession. If that's all you can find to complain about....
ReplyDeleteAs for the website - try again and then email them with your complaint I'd say.
I really hope the Devils Backbone Barclays London Dark Lager gets there in good nick! Will be trying it fresh at the brewpub this weekend.
ReplyDeleteWill you be advising punters that some of the Czech beers are in keykegs?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure the Kevins will need to know...
I'm supposed to be on the BSF staffmailing list but have never received anything, need to rectify that this year!
ReplyDeleteWhat Kiwi beers have made it?
ReplyDeleteKieran - Click the link on my blog and select New World from the drop down menu.
ReplyDeleteI just hope there's some of the Devil's Backbone Lager left on Thursday so I can try some.
ReplyDeleteI literally cannot wait. Literally. Gonna find it hard to wrench myself away from BSF.
ReplyDeleteBSF is the only part of the Great Boring Beer Farce that interests me at all... if only some of the other (more conveniently located!) festivals could piggy-back on the order and get some of the Japanese, Italian and American rarities I'd be very happy... have sent a shopping monkey but have had to restrict myself to half a dozen, could easily have picked 100
ReplyDeleteYou should know about me and hyperbole by now.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with the website was apparently temporary, though there is a distinct lack of a very critical feature: the ability to change one's membership type from single to joint. Die Dame des Hauses wants to join.
So I did it all by phone--just in time for 20 Jul expiration too!
