Customer Service

After meeting the Chairman of the CAMRA Review Group yesterday we needed a little refreshment, so nipped into the Bank (Nicolsons) for some beer. I chose unwisely, but that was the triumph of hope over experience, so my own fault. I've never found a Rudgate beer yet that I like, though it may well be that Rudgate beers just don't agree with me in some way. None of this is the point though, as I want to mention customer service.

The pub was almost empty, but the bar staff were exemplary. "Our" young barmaid in particular was cheerful and attentive, with samples happily offered (I still bought that blasted Rudgate though) and banter exchanged. She chatted to us old fogies and made us feel wanted in the pub. Unbidden, when she heard us discussing Stella Black which was available, she darted over with a taster and mentioned it was on offer. I remarked on her cheerfulness and she replied simply "This is my job, I might as well enjoy it!" Refreshing.

Now the real reason I mention her, is that this isn't the first time this lass has treated this customer so well. Earlier in December she was just as attentive and professional when I was there with a different mate and she was the same with all her customers both then and yesterday. Well done I'd say and a pleasure to encounter customer service at its best.

I thought the Stella Black to be not that bad actually, but it was only a taster.

Good to hear positive remarks on service, normally you only hear about bad service.

I'm sure all the barmaids are entranced in the presence of Tandleman:)

At Oddest in Chorlton on Saturday some of our beers were served in Stella Black glasses - extremely attractive design, tempted to pinch/buy one. But I resisted.

I think the service is usually pretty good in the Bank anyway, but I know thw lass you are referring to and she is great.

We now live in a polyglot sexual society. Or so I'm told. So I think, in all fairness, we'd better say there are many transgender barstaff who have been entranced by Tandleman.

But will Tandleman be entranced by transgender bar staff?

Knowing Tandleman to be somewhat of a traditionalist in this area, I'm going to make a wild guess and say no.

So he's not an equal opportunities lech?

Being friendly and helpful doesn't cost anything but goes a long way!

On my short visit to The Grove in Huddersfield on Sunday I was very impressed once again by the staff. I don't think I've met this lad before and was hoping to get a swing-top bottle I'd brought with me filled with Dom's final brew at Marble titled "Driscoll's End" for Rich at myBrewerytap as a thanks for getting me some bottles.

I mentioned that if he had a spare moment when he wasn't busy if he'd pop down the cellar and fill it up. 10 mins later he came and collected the bottle and shortly returned with a bottle full.

He didn't need to do that, the beer was on pump but was racked and ready so he didn't mind.

Experiences like that leave an impression and make you want to return.

Nice post! In my side, Good customer service is necessary and Customers do not expect perfection, however, they do require a sincere and consistent effort on their behalf. Thanks for sharing.
