White Shield

I had a bottle of this last night and was very impressed. I won't bore you with tasting notes, as I was drinking it not de-constructing it. It was bitter, hoppy, clean and a damn good drink. It was also as English as you could get a bottle of beer to be and none the worse for that.

Yes, thankfully it's still a good beer.

I'm looking forward to trying it fresh when I get over to the UK next year. We get bottles here that have gone through the tropics in a shipping container and are dry, with a massive raisin character. Not bad but I suspect very different to what the beer tastes fresh.

I remember thinking White shield was rather dry and grassy when I first tried it, but when I had a bottle that had been conditioned for a while in our garage it was fabulous.
