Loo Loo Land

You can be as sniffy as you like about Wetherspoons, but when it comes to toilets, the only smell in a JDW is the sweet smell of success. The company was once again a big winner in the annual "Loo of the Year Awards."

So as you "enjoy" 99p pints of horrible Greene King IPA, you can rest easy that your comfort break experience will be a good one and if you really wish to cock a snook at the company, you can just slip in under the wire for a quick pee or a luxurious number two. Okay you will most likely have to negotiate an improbably large number of stairs, up or down, to your lavatorial nirvana and according to some, risk tripping over comatose drunks and dead dogs, but you won't have to have a drink. They are far too cavernous and understaffed to even notice you.

And it'll make a change from McDonalds when suddenly caught short!

I had my first pint of Greene King IPA over the holidays - is it supposed to smell like rubber carpet underlay?

You'll have to ask others about that!

I can vouch for the cleanliness of Keighley's Livery Rooms bogs. They may be on a roof in a different postcode to the rest of the pub, but they are indeed spotless and worth their five stars.

Wasn't it 'spoons punting of 99p Youngers Scotch Bitter back in the early 90s that first led the chain to having the reputation of being full of old men with their flies undone (and the dead dogs).

tandleman, i support your campaign against that middle class southerner stonch. he is a disgrace to the beer world and needs someone like you to stand up and expose him for what he is. his blog is rubbish

Wetherspoon's is great for a cheeky piss when you're up town and miles away from a decent loo. The places are so cavernous that the staff don't notice you going, plus if thy do spot you they're so miserable working there that they don't care anyway.

Anonymous - Stonch is a Northerner, from South Shields.

Anonymous -I'd be a lot happier if your comment wasn't.... well..... anonymous! And let's be clear, while I don't like Stonch's selective censorship,I do not have a campaign against him.

I love both tandleman and stonch! Opposing views admittedly, but aint that the beauty of the world? Nobody is ever 100% correct when it comes to opinions.

The toilets in one of my local spoons presumably were overlooked when judging this award as they are shocking! Or they were last time I was in anyway
