After dropping Eileen off at the station this morning, I arrived home just after seven on a glorious morning. The air was fairly still, but I got a distinct whiff of Middleton's other commercial brewery - the one that isn't Lees. Anyone know its name?
As usual in any competition I run, there will be no prizes whatever, but I'll be impressed with you. Isn't that enough? Oh and I'm excluding Tyson from this. He probably knows what it is.
SANTA BANTER IN THE SALISBURY ARMS

December 2024. Cambridge. I had to run to catch the 13:03 back from Baldock
to Cambridge, a pint of NBSS 5 Abbot and a plate of pie sloshing up and

I'd have thought Phoenix in Heywood was the nearest after Lees itself ~ obviously wrong.
Need to think a bit more out of the box RedNev.
I've been scouring the internet, but without success ~ I give up. Unless you've set up a brewery in your garage?
Does the pickle factory on Greengate incorporate a vinegar brewery?
Pandora Pickles? No it doesn't, but you are getting warm.
Sarson's? Unless there's a soy sauce brewery in Middleton's world-famous Chinatown...
Give that man a coconut or a bag of chips. Sarson's it is. And they actually brew it.
Infuriating ~ but fun.
The other day I was idling about googling former brewing colleagues & friends. I found out that a former Firkin brewer I once knew is now making the sort of stuff he did a very good job of not making at his brewpub (he also was an occasional poster-upper on usenet's uk.food+drink.real-ale)
My guess was going to be Lea & Perrins, but that's down Prescotti's way.
Of course the stories that they are one and the same are completely untrue...
Was waiting for the first person to say this....
I was thrown by the vinegar clue until I realised that Nangreaves isn't a suburb of Heywood.
Without being sarcastic, I must say I've had more pleasure from Sarson's than the other Middleton brewery. Like Colman's is for mustard, Sarson's is THE number one example of its type. Well done Middleton!
Ah well. At least you get something you like from Miggy!
God wanted us to be happy and that's why he made beer. I won't be able to live on any other planet because only earth has beer.
Were you thinking of living on another planet then?
All this talk of bad this Lees stuff is makes me want to try it just to see if it really is that shit.
The bitter can be variable, but the Dark is superb and the Coronation St pretty good too.
When on form the bitter is very drinkable, though maybe not too everyone's taste - eg Tyson.
